Fort Lesley J. McNair has been around for over 200 years. The army post which was first known as Washington Arsenal, sits at the tip of Greenleaf Point, a peninsula in Washington, D.C. It is one of the longest serving army posts in the United States, only being preceded by the Military Academy at West Point and the Carlisle Barracks. It is the Headquarters of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington, home to the National Defense University, and also headquarters of the U.S. Army Center of Military History.
