Fort Knox located in Kentucky, with parts of its land extending to Meade, Bullitt and Hardin counties. The fort covers 109,000 acres of land. Though part of the site has been in use since 1861, the fort was properly constructed in 1918. Previously, the installation was home to the U.S. Army Amor Center and the U.S. Army Amor School. However, the Army Armor School has been moved to Fort Benning, and Fort Knox now hosts the Army Human Resource Center of Excellence, which is saddled with the task of managing the career of all soldiers. The fort also hosts the General George Patton Museum, Fort Knox High School, and the U.S. Gold Bullion Depository.
