Fort Chaffee Maneuver Training Center is one of Army National Guard installations, located in western Arkansas, adjacent to the city of Fort Smith. In 1941, Fort Chaffee was established and named as Camp Chaffee, it remained as Camp Chaffee until 1956. Between 1941 and 1995, the fort has served the following purposes; as base and training camp of United States Army, a refugee camp, and prisoner of war camp. In 1984, Fort Chaffee was used as a set for a movie, titled A Soldier’s Story and used as a set for Biloxi Blues in 1988.

The fort was featured in the 11th episode of season four of Ghost Adventure on 19-11-2010. Creation of this fort led to a tremendous boom in businesses and housing in the nearby town of Barling. One of the notable children of refugees born at the fort was Dat Nguyen, who became All-American linebacker at Texas A&M University, he later played as professional for the Dallas Cowboys.
